Sit. Sense. Write.

Join me and fellow writer-creators on the third Wednesday of each month as we come together to cultivate a tender space for touching in, opening up, and inviting words to flow.

Come prepared with something to write on and with (journal & pen, paint brush and scroll, giant sketch pad…), comfortable clothes to sit and move in, and space cleared for an hour of settled awareness and creative movement.

We’ll begin each gathering with an embodied mindfulness practice that might include meditation, short movement practices, and/or journaling. The meat of the gathering will be devoted to writerly movement—that is, allowing some words to flow—with a writing prompt you may or may not choose to follow. We’ll close each gathering with giving thanks and an opportunity to voice some words into the space.

All writers—and yes, claiming ourselves as writers DOES feel important—in All bodies are most welcome and invited to do what feels good to them as long as it aligns with the basic tenets of our space:

  1. Welcome it All

  2. Listen with Respect and a Willingness to Expand

  3. Meet Urgency with Curiosity and Compassion

  4. Lean into Disharmony with Care and towards Repair

Curious? Interested? Connect with me to introduce yourself and get the Zoom info.

In case you’re not familiar with sliding scales/pricing equity structures, or you’d like a refresher,… they give us the opportunity to be honest about what racist, nationalist, patriarchal, capitalist, heteronormative and other systems of inequity have given to and/or taken from each of us and our lineages. They also give us the opportunity to disrupt dominant individualistic and transactional norms by allowing this honesty to guide us in supporting ourselves and others.

If you have questions about any of this, please let me know!

Meeting our Edges || Cultivating Refuge

In this online series, I am collaborating with co-conspirator Hia Phua to offer space for coming together to build connection and trust, cultivate internal and collective refuge, and explore our capacity to meet our edges as opportunities for transformation. In our spring and summer sessions, we are leaning more fully into the collective practice of co-creation as experimentation in meeting our edges and cultivating refuge.

This practice of meeting our edges and cultivating refuge is guided by these understandings:

  1. White supremacy, capitalism, heteropatriarchy, ableism and other systems of power and oppression that continuously shape us in and through our daily lives teach and remind us to celebrate and put forward certain parts of ourselves and hide, deny or hold other parts back

  2. Transformation—the radical, liberatory kind that breaks down deeply ingrained patterns—happens in and through our bodies, and tends to emerge out of leaning into discomfort

  3. Leaning in together—practicing in collective—can amplify discomfort and catalyze transformation

  4. Refuge is essential when leaning into discomfort, helping us build our individual and collective capacity

Each gathering in this online series includes opportunities for practice and facilitated activities to support the ongoing work of meeting our edges and cultivating refuge.

Interested? Connect with me to talk about whether this series might be a good fit for you!
