what's your super power?

In Ruth Ozeki's A Tale for the Time Being, 16-year old Nao's great-grandmother teaches her how to tap into her own supapawa (superpowers) through Zen meditation.  In this year's Puget Sound Zen Center's Children's Program, we're exploring kids' and teens' compassion superpowers and how to use them to recognize and challenge inequities.   We're talking about what we think compassion, suffering and inequities mean, engaging in intergenerational dialogues with seniors at Vashon's Community Care Center, working at and taking part in Vashon Community Dinners, and asking questions about race in Vashon public schools.  It is a privilege to get to develop our compassion superpowers and investigate and challenge inequities with this inspiring group of teacher-youth.
